Championship Dreams for the Final 5!
The 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic $10,000 WPT No-Limit Hold’em
Championship began with 259 players competing for the chance to sit at the Final
Table. On Sunday the field was cut to 17 players and by Monday the number of
hopefuls was down to 10. Today, after 5 1/2 hours of play, we were down to 7. On the
last hand, Joe Raposa and Bill Botchis were eliminated by the chip leader, Vadim
Trincher. With the blinds at 12k-24k, Vadim raised to 60k under the gun. Bill raised
all-in with 193k followed by Joe pushing all-in with 248k. Vadim quickly called with
pocket A’s to Bill’s pocket 9’s and Joe’s pocket J’s. The flop ( 8d7h5h) gave Bill a gut
shot straight draw, but the 2s7c on the turn and river sealed both Bill and Joe’s
positions at 7th and 6th respectively. The Final Five are as follows:
Lenny Cortellino, Lewiston, ME; Matthew Casterella, White Plains, NY; Alex
Perelberg, Westport, CT; Vadim Trincher, Cliffside Park, NJ; and Amnon Filippi, New
York, NY.
They will start play on Wednesday, April 9, at 4 PM in the Grand Pequot
