in No-Limit Hold'em Event
By Debbie Burkhead
A No-Limit Hold’em event has been added to the schedule on April 18. The buy-in is $120 with unlimited rebuys in the first hour and a two-for-one add-on.
Today’s No-Limit event drew 33 entrants with a prize pool of $3,201.
The final nine players took their seats at the final table at 3:40 p.m. and continued to play for the five money places. The rounds were 35 minutes and final table play began with $100-$200 blinds.
On the second hand of final table play, Walt Stowe doubled through with pocket kings and was back in the race.
Fifteen minutes later Matt Curci raised $400, Bob Heller reraised all-in for $775 more and Matt called. Matt showed A-J of spades and Bob had pocket kings. The board produced 4-7-A, and Bob needed a king to stay alive. The turn came another ace and Bob could still win with a king but the river card was an eight which sent Bob home in 9th place.
Five minutes later Pam Kirk called $200 leaving her only $175. Glenn Abney raised $500 more, Vince Burgio folded on his big blind and Pam called all-in with her remaining $175. Glenn turned over K-10 and Pam showed a pair of sevens. The board came 4-A-K-A-2, which gave Glenn two bigger pair for the win. Pam took 8th place.
At 4:15 the blinds increased to $150-$300 with seven players remaining.
Seventeen minutes into the new level Glenn put in a preflop raise of $1700 and Bob Mauser called. The flop came Q-2-8, Glenn bet $2,000 and Bob called all-in. Bob had pocket kings but Glen was in the lead after flopping a set of queens. The turn card was a seven and the river was an eight which gave Glenn a full house and the win. Bob had to settle for 7th place.
The final table was down to the final six players, five players would finish in the money, and one player would win a seat in the Bubble tournament to be held on April 19.
At 4:55 the blinds remained the same, $150-$300 but now the players had to ante $25 per hand.
On the first hand of the new level Vince called, Walt called and Pete raised all-in for his remaining $1,000. Vince made the call and Walt folded. Vince showed pocket jacks and Pete had gone all-in with pocket kings. The board brought A-3-4-8-10 and Pete’s kings held-up. Pete, who was short-stacked coming to the final table, was now back in the game.
Twenty minutes later, Debbie Burkhead raised all-in for her remaining $2125. Matt thought about it, announced he was bored and said, “I call.” Matt turn over K-9 of spades and Debbie showed pocket eights. The flop brought Matt a flush draw but the turn gave Debbie a set of eights. The river was not a spade and Debbie double through and was very much back in the game.
Before the next hand was dealt the remaining six decided on a money deal and the winners were listed according to chip count.
The tournament ended at 5:30. Vince had the chip lead with $7,625 and was declared the winner. Glenn took 2nd with $6,750 in chips, Walt ended up with $6,300 in chips and took 3rd place, Matt had $4,775 in chips and took 4th place, Debbie took 5th place with $4,300 in chips and Pete had $3,600 and took 6th place. The winner of the seat in the Bubble tournament was determined by a high card draw and that was won by Debbie
Congratulations, Vince!
