Tournament Report
Tom Almquist Wins Limit Hold'em Tourney1>
The 3nd event of Winnin' o' the Green was the $225 buy-in Limit Hold'em tournament. A field of 175 played for a share of the $33,950 prize pool. The final table started at level 15 with 3K/6K blinds playing 6K/12K limits. Tom Almquist arrived to the final table with 148,000 of the 787,500 chips in play.
It took only 2 hands for our first elimination as Michael Millard was all in for his last 2K in a 7-way pot. After a board of 6-10-9-4-9 Ellix Powers pocket Q's were good enough to take down a huge pot knocking out Millard in 10th place for $590.
On hand #13 Albertin Hernandez was all in holding A-Q against Tom Almquist' K-Q. Hernandez was in good shape to double up however after the board of 8-2-K-5-8 Almquist' pair of Kings knocked Hernandez out in 9th place for $680.
A few hands later Tony Grand was all in for his last 10K with pocket 9's against Ellix Powers who held A-J. The flop of A-J-A gave powers a full house and eliminated Grand in 8th place for $775.
On hand #20 Mihaly Molnar had his last chips in with A-2 against Alon Yehudai holding J-8. The flop of A-K-T gave Molnar a pair of Aces and the lead. The turn came a King and the river came a Queen giving Yehudai an Ace-high straight knocking Molnar out in 7th place for $870.
Restie Bagaygay was all in with A-2 against Tom Almquist who held A-Q. After the board came Q-10-Q-6-3 Almquist made trip Queens eliminating Bagaygay in 6th place for $1,185.
Couple rounds later Ivan D'Cunha had his last chips in with A-10 against Ellix Powers who held Q-7. The flop of K-4-Q gave Powers the lead with a pair of Queens. The turn spiked an Ace and D'Cunha retook the lead. The river came a 7 and Powers made two-pair with the “computer hand” knocking out D'Cunha in 5th place for $1,520.
A few hands went by and talk of a deal was discussed. After a lot of back and forth between the final 4 players a deal was finally struck. Tom Almquist, who began the final table as the chip leader, had the chip lead and was declared winner of event #3.
