Tournament Report
Lamyong Bunma Changes Gears to Victory
The 6th event of Winnin' o' the Green was the $335 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament. A field of 171 played for a share of the $49,761 prize pool. The final table started at level 14 with a 500 ante and 2K/4K blinds. Gary Childress arrived as the chip leader holding 181,500 of the 855,000 chips in play.
It did not take long for some action at the final table as on hand #2 Kevin Mayuga was all in with A-K in the small blind against Robert Durant in the big blind who held A-Q. Mayuga was in great shape to double up however after the board came 8-5-Q-2-6 Durant hit his Queen and sent Mayuga out in 10th place for $870.
Two hands later Robert Mason was all in with pocket 6's against Lamyong Bunma who held A-J. Bunma flopped an Ace right away on a flop of A-9-5. The turn Queen and river deuce were no help for Mason and he was eliminated in 9th place for $995.
Henry Heang raised under the gun holding pocket Kings. Robert Durant called from the big blind with Ah-Qx. The flop came Qh-5h-3 and Durant checked. Heang went all in and Durant called. Heang was still in the lead after the 4h fell on the turn but gave Durant a straight and flush draw. The river came a 9h giving Durant the flush and knocking Heang out in 8th place for $1,120.
On hand #28 Tuan Phan was in for his last chips holding K-6. It was not much more to call for Lamyong Bunma who held 10-4. Both players flopped a pair when the flop came 4-6-A. The turn 9 did not help either player but the river came a 10 giving Bunma two pair and sending Phan out in 7th place for $1,245.
The very next hand saw Amir Ghazvinian all in with A-8 against Bunma who held pocket 9's. The flop of A-9-K gave Ghazvinian a pair of Aces but also gave Bunma a set of 9's. After the turn came a Queen and river came a deuce Ghazvinian, who won event #2, was eliminated in 6th place for $1,740.
A few hands later Joseph Assaad was trying to make a move and went all in holding 4-2 against Gary Childress in the big blind who held pocket 9's. After the board came 9-4-K-J-Q Childress made a set of 9's eliminating Assaad out in 5th place for $2,240.
The remaining 4 players wanted to look at a chip count deal. After the tournament staff ran the numbers all players were in agreement of what they would receive thus ending the tournament. Lamyong Bunma was the chip leader and declared winner of event #6.

BIOGRAPHY
Lamyong Bunma plays tournaments all over LA County but can be seen usually at Hawaiian Gardens playing at their daily tournaments. He is usually making sure he has a good time while playing and can be seen laughing at the table. His strategy is to change gears and play different hands to get action so when he has a real hand he can get paid off. Bunma plans on playing the main event at this year's WOG. |
