Tournament Report
$68,000 TO THE FIRST PLACE WINNER CHRIS SHERLOCK!!
The finale of the 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic $600 No-Limit Championship came down to an equity chop
amongst the final five contestants. Coming into the final table and maintaining his chip dominance to the end, was the
eventual 2009 FPC $600 No-Limit Champion Christopher Sherlock, from Mystic, CT. Chris finished with a 2 to 1
chip advantage over his next closest competitor and would take a cash prize of $68,000.
A total of 731 players started on Wednesday and 29 returned at noon today to compete for the remainder of the
$375,806 prize pool. The final table got underway just after 2:30PM and it took almost an hour before Maurice Paradis of Jewett City, CT would move all-in with his last $118k. Maurice with Ac10c was called by eventual champ
Chris who had AdQd. The board came-out 9d7c7cAs2h and Chris’ Q would relegate Maurice to 10th place taking home
$3,870. Next to depart was Wendell Ellsworth who was forced all-in on the very next hand with his last $500 chip
(ante was $1500). Wendell only had to battle Rene Charland, as Rene raised to $48k to scoop the side pot. Wendell
showed 8s6h while Rene had Qs9s. The board played Ac3c3d7d9h leaving Wendell heading back to Laconia, NH with
$6,645 for the 9th spot.
Chris, with his significant chip advantage called Rene Charland’s all-in move of $182k. Rene who turned
over KhQc would get no help from the board, and watched the pot go to Chris with pocket 3,s. Rene finished 8th taking
$10,372 back home to South Windsor, CT. Once again it would be on Chris to eliminate the next player as he moved allin
and was called by Daniel Krisch of Farmington, CT. Daniel pushed his last $305k with Ah2h only to see Chris with
AsKs. The flop (9cKhQh)gave Dan hope with the flush draw, but the turn (2d) and river (5c) would leave Daniel in 7th
with a $14,130 payday. Bobby “The Bus” Ferdinand of Revere, MA would push his last $130k in after the turn gave
him K’s over. Scott Mobark who hit a flush draw on the turn called and hit the flush on the river. This left Bobby in 6th
receiving $17,889 for his efforts.
Before play would start-up again, the Final Five would reach an agreement to divide the remaining prize pool
based on chip counts. Dawit Kumssa of Malden, MA with a count of 402k earned $31,861. Brian Desmarais of
Taunton, MA with a count of 630k took home $35,836. Anthony Ruberto with a chip count of 832k would return to
Everett, MA with $42,000. With a chip count of 874k, Scott Mobark of Middleboro, MA received $42,826. The chip
leader and 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic $600 No-Limit Champion, Christopher Sherlock earned $68,000 with a final
chip count of 1,681,000.
