Tournament Report

FEMING CHAN IS VICTORIOUS WINS $96,751!

The 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic $2,500 No-Limit Championship began on Saturday with 143 entrants competing for a prize pool of $322,501.

At noon on Sunday twelve players returned to fight for the top prize and after an hour of play, the final table was determined. Feming Chan emerged as the champion. Feming, a resident of West Windsor, NY, took the Championship trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $96,751!!

Soon after the final table had started, Marc Podell, with the short stack, would move all-in pushing his last $54k with AdQc. He was called by Danny Yousefzadeh, who had AsKc. The board (10h9d6d6s2h) did nothing for Marc but leave him heading back to New York, NY in 10th place with $6,611. After the flop (Ac5s9h) gave Mike 'Little Man' Sica of North Brunswick, NJ, a pair of 9's, he moved all-in with his last $31k. Danny would quickly call and show pocket 5's, and with no help (6c2h) the rest of the way for Mike, he would be relegated to 9th and a $7,743 payday. Shortly thereafter, Feming would move all-in with AcKc, and was called by David Finkelstein with AsQh. Dave was all-in with $29k and with no help from the board (10c8h9cAd7c), he would settle for 8th and return to Upper Saddle River, NJ with $11,287.

Mehrdad'Danny'Yousefzadeh of Astoria, NY would raise all-in with his last $70k on pocket J's and would once again face a caller who had pocket K's. Unfortunately for Danny, the K's held-up this time and Danny would take $14,835 for his 7th place finish. Carl Restifo was now the short stack and would push his last $59k with Ah8h. Carl was called by Avdo Djokovic who had pocket 3's. The flop (4d10s3s) gave Avdo the set and with no more help from the board (10d9c), Carl would head home to New Rochelle, NY in 6th with $18,705.

With the chip stacks growing and Frank Selldorff down to his last $140k, he would move all-in with AcJc. Unfortunately for Frank, he would run into David, who had a sizeable chip lead and pocket Q's. The flop (3s8dJs) gave Frank J's, but that was it (2dKc), leaving Frank in 5th with $22,737 for his efforts.

Scott Dorin of Medina, NY had his chip stack dwindle down to $170k before moving all-in with As7d. He was called by Fleming who had Ad8d. The flop( 3d6d7c) gave Scott hope and concern and the river confirmed his concern as the Kd gave Fleming the flush and Scott 4th place and $26,606.

Next to leave was the final table's starting chip leader Avdo Djokovic. Avdo would call Fleming's all-in, by pushing his last $280k on AsKc. Fleming with AdJh would hit the J on the flop (Jc3s9s), and with 8c7s to complete the board, Avdo would be heading back to Staten Island, NY with $32,250 for 3rd.

As heads-up play commenced David Hickman of Westborough, MA had over a 2 to 1 chip advantage. David had the chip advantage but Feming had the momentum going into the heads-up action, and he would not give it up as he built a 3 to 1 chip advantage. After the flop (5s4h3d) gave Feming, with Ah2c, a wheel, he raised David's $30k bet to $98k. David with 9d4d would move all-in with his last $384k and be disappointed to see Fleming's straight. The 7d2h to complete the board left David in 2nd earning $54,825 and Feming Chan as the winner of the 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic $2,500 No-Limit Championship!
