Hoss Dargham Takes Down Multi-Rebuy Event

Event #3 of the Deepstack Mini Series was the first of 3 multi-rebuy events: each with a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool. 172 players bought 298 rebuys to bring the prize pool to $45,590. The 1am final table was set at the beginning of the 2K 6K/12K blind level and there was action started from the very first hand.

After lots of all-ins, folds and an occasional continuation bet flop, Brett Radin called the all-in re-raise from Bill Norman. Bill showed K-9 and Brett had him outpipped by one (K-10). The board was A-A-7-2-4 and Bill Norman couldn’t find a 9 or a chop and was eliminated in 10th place for $800.

Hand #25 was the first hand at the new blind level: 3K 10K/20K. Mihaly Molnar pushed all-in for his last chips with a J-10 and ran into Hoss Dargham’s pocket Aces. The board was 7-5-4-9-9 giving Hoss top 2 pair. Mihaly Molnar finished in 9th place and earned $910.

Just a few short hands later, a four-way pot developed going to the flop. Jared Melson was the only player all-in and the board of A-3s-3s-5-Ks was checked down. At showdown, Brett Radin showed K-3 for two pair and Jared Melson mucked his A-X after seeing his lead fade with the river King. Jared Melson was eliminated in 8th place earning $1,025.

As another 30 minutes ticked down on the clock, the blinds were raised to 5K 15K/30K and the first hand at this level was a 3-way pot seeing a flop of K-5-4. The turn 5 and river 5 got checked down and Kevin Daly was all-in preflop. Kevin showed A-3 but both Brett Radin and Pho Van Tran both held a 4 for a boat (J-4 & A-4). Kevin Daly was sent to the rail in 7th place and took home $1,140.

Hand #54 had Brett Radin all-in and covering Tami Gonsalves pre-flop. Tami showed pocket 9s and Brett made it a race with A-10. The flop came A-J-10 and Brett took a commaning lead. The turn 7 gave Tami 4 more outs to the straight but the river 5 wouldn’t do it. Tami Gonsalves ended her night in 6th place with $1,595 in prize money.

With five players remaining, a chip count deal was evaluated and discussed. After a little negotiating, the deal was done and Hoss Dargham was the chip leader after doubling up a few hands ago. Hoss earned the title and the multi-rebuy event was complete at 4:30am.

BIOGRAPHY

Hoss Dargham has been playing poker recreationally for over 15 years. Hoss enjoys No Limit Hold’em tournaments and has cashed several times over the last few years. This is his first top finish. Hoss was a chip leader at the table, a short stack, and everything in between. It was a fortunate double up late in the final table that gave him the eventual chip lead. Hoss resides in Victorville, CA and he had a good long drive home at 5am after all the paperwork is complete.
