Tournament Report
Hovik Azizian's Photo Finish Win
Event #5 of the Deepstack Mini Series drew 330 players, the largest of the Mini Series fields so far. The prize pool was $32,010 with a 1st place prize of $11,845. The top 3 tables were in the money and the final table was set just after 4am.
Shortstack Charlie Shamaoun was all-in during the first two hands. On hand #2 Charlie's A-Q was dominated by Hovik Azizian's A-K. The board came 10-8-2-3-4 and Charlie finished in 10th place for $400. This was back-to-back final tables for Charlie.
On hand #4 Jaymes Pillar pushed 150K with Q-Qd and was called by Hovik Azizian's A-K. The flop was A-Ad-4d and Hovik had the lead but the turn 5d gave Jaymes a diamond draw. The river Kh gave Hovik the top boat and Jaymes Pillar was eliminated in 9th place for $480.
On hand #16 Sylbert Reid was all-in in the big blind for his last 3,000 chips. Sylbert was on a one round penalty after losing 90% of his chips on hand #13 and slipped out the F-bomb. His mucked big blind hand was 7-3 offsuit and there was no action after a pre-flop raise by Giovanni Marcos took down the pot. Sylbert Reid was eliminated in 8th place for $640.
On hand #18, big blind Aldo Secaida was all-in with a K-2 and ran into the small blind's Queens. The board fell with the absence of a King with: 10-9-6-A-A. Phan Gia Chi took down the pot and Aldo was eliminated in 7th place.
The final six players elected to look at a chip count. The deal was accepted with little negotiation and the tournament was completed at 5am. Hovik Azizian held the chip lead by approximately 20,000 chips and was declared the winner.
