Tournament Report

Poker Dealer Joe Huang Earns H.O.R.S.E. Title

Event #6 of the Deepstack Mini Series was the first of two H.O.R.S.E. events. 150 players entered the mixed game event and created a prize pool of $14,550. With almost all players purchasing the Bonus chip (1,000 for $5), the 5,000 chip stack was generous and the final table wasn’t set 8-handed until 4:05 am.

HOLD’EM

Hand #1 had shortstack David Davila all-in preflop with 3-way action. Augie Loya called bets on all 3 streets from PD Tran. The board came 8-4-2-5-Q. The showdown revealed PD Tran’s 10-10, while David Davila showed a beat A-10. Augie flashed an 8 and mucked his hand. PD’s pair took the pot and David Davila was eliminated in 8th place and collected $365.

OMAHA HI-LO

Hand #5 had Jason Harrison all-in for his last 19,000 chips and David Williams in for his last chips with Mandy Glogow and Joe Huang checking the board down to the river (Js-9s-6-4-9). Jason showed Q-Q-8-2 splitting the high only hand with Joe’s A-K-Q-Q. David Williams mucked his hand and finished in 7th place for $435.

On hand #10 Mandy Glogow called all-in to PD Tran’s bet on the river. PD had bet each street while Mandy and Augie Loya called to showdown. The board was K-7-6-3-Q. Augie showed A-4-5-6 for the high straight and PD showed A-2-3-5 for the nut low. Mandy mucked her cards, finished in 6th place and collected $580. Mandy is a producer for The WPT and we look forward to seeing her in August for the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event.

On hand #11 Jason Harrison who had become shortstacked was all-in on his small blind and had a caller from the big blind, Joe Huang. Jason reluctantly showed 2-9-9-J and Joe showed A-Q-9-4. The board fell K-5-3-7-Q and Joe hits his river pair to take the high only pot. Jason Harrison was eliminated in 5th place earning $725.

RAZZ

The final four players saw about 10 hands of RAZZ and requested a chip count evaluation. The numbers came back and all players agreed to the deal. Joe Huang was the clear chip leader and was declared the winner a 5:15am.
