Hamir Mohammadi Takes Down Omaha Hi/Lo Event
The 2009 Mini Series of Poker continued with Event #14, a $170 buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo tournament. A field of 100 players vied for a share of the $14,550 prize pool. Final table play began with 22:57 remaining at level 15 with blinds at 3K-6K playing 6K-12K betting limits. Eric Chhor had the chip lead going in with 187,000 of the 700,000 chips in play.
The first hand offered a double elimination when Bob Schwartz and Kevin McGuinness were both all in against Rod Peate. Peate held A-Q-J-7 on a board of 10-9-2-8-J giving him a Queen high straight sending Schwartz out in 9th place for $295 and McGuinness out in 8th place for $325.
On hand #14 “Super” Mario Esquerra had his last chips in with A-10-5-2 against Eric Chhor who held A-A-7-2. The board came 9-9-10-4-K and Chhor’s Aces up were enough to send Esquerra out in 7th placae for $365.
Play went on for a while until our next elimination on hand #42 where Matthew Goddard was all in with A-K-J-6 against Eric Chhor who held 10-9-6-4. The board was 10-J-2-10-5 and Chhor’s trip 10’s sent Goddard out in 6th place for $510.
A few hands later Leo Davis was all in with K-J-9-7 against Chhor’s J-10-9-9. The board came 2-Q-3-Q-3 and Chhor eliminated another player from this final table when his Queens and 9’s sent Davis out in 5th place earning him $660.
Hand #53 saw Fred Dakduk all in with K-10-9-7 against Chhor who held Q-J-8-5. The board read 8-10-A-8-7 and Chhor kept the eliminations coming when his trip 8’s sent Dakduk out in 4th place for $875.
Play was 3-handed for 40 hands. On the 40th hand Rod Peate had his last chips in with Q-10-3-3 against Chhor who held A-9-4-4. The board came A-A-A-Q-9 and Chhor’s Aces full of 4’s bested Peate’s Aces full of 3’s sending Peate out in 3rd placea for $1,380.
Heads up there were no hands dealt as they agreed to a deal. Hamid Mohammadi earned the chip lead during the long 3-handed battle and was declared winner of event #14.

Hamid Mohammadi plays all poker games. You can see him playing both a tournament or cash game and likely doing well. He was at times short stacked tonight but he stayed persistent and used his experience to pick up the lead when play got 3-handed.
