Lucky Larry Kantor Wins Mixed E.O. Event

Event #16 of the Deepstack Mini Series was a mixed game format cycling between Omaha Hi-Lo and Stud Hi-Lo. 71 players entered the event creating a $10,331 prize pool with first place paying $4,131. The final eight players assembled at the final table as the clock read 3:15am.

Omaha Hi-Lo Blinds: 4000 / 8000
On hand #5 a 3-way pot made it to the river with Andy Sacino holding A-3-3-4, Walt Twardus all-in and holding 6-7-8-J and Chuck Davidson had A-A-K-3. The board was 5-10-2-6-J and Andrew won ¾ of the pot with a 6-high straight and nut low while Chuck hand the nut low only. Walt Twardus was eliminated in 8th place earning $310.

Hand #7 another 3-way pot went to the river. Paul David held 2-3-8-9 in the big blind, Lynne Blanco had A-7-x-x and Chuck Davidson was all-in with A-2-9-J. The board was A-6-4-7-8 and Paul Davis had the nut low while Lynne had Aces-up. Chuck Davidson was eliminated in 7th place and collected $415.

Stud Hi-Lo Bring In:2000 Complete/Raise: 3000/10000 10000/20000
Both Lynne Blanco and “Lucky” Larry Kantor got it all-in by the river. Lucky Larry held (4-4) 4-6-8-8 (6) for fours full of eights. Lynne held (A-K) K-9-6-7-(10) for a pair of kings. No low hand for either player gave the scoop to Lucky Larry and Lynne Blanco was eliminated in 6th place and took home $515.

Hand #27 was the final hand played when heads-up action between Alexi Dimitrov and Ralph Rivera commenced. Alexi got all his chips in on 6th street showing 8-6-A-6 (A-3) against Ralph’s Ah-10-10h-5h (J-4). Alexi had Ralph drawing to 2 outs with one card to come. Ralph hits a 10 for trip 10s and Alexi had his Aces-up on the turn cracked. Ralph scooped the pot putting him 2nd in chips and Alexi was eliminated in 5th place and collected $620.

The final four players noted the 4:30 am hour and decided to look at a chip count. The numbers were run and accepted without much discussion. “Lucky” Larry Kantor was the 2:1 chip leader over the other three opponents and was declared the winner.

“Lucky” Larry Kantor is a CPA during the day and the CFO of Smooch Inc. 24/7 (www.smoochinc.com). Larry has been playing poker (Stud) for as many years as he can remember. Larry has multiple WSOP Final Tables in Stud and a Bike H.O.R.S.E. Final Table. Larry has been working on his Omaha game and enjoyed playing the E.O. event.
