Hollywood Set Designer Steve Shkolnik Wins Multi-Rebuy Event

Event #17 of the Deepstack Mini Series was the last $20,000 Guaranteed event which had 166 players who purchased 210 rebuys for a total prize pool well exceeding the guarantee. The total prize pool was $36,472 and first place was paying $13,767. The final table was set just after midnight and all ten players took a 10 minute break while the tournament staff validated the chip count. The players returned from break about 12:15am and continued conversations about a chip count deal even before the button was redrawn.

The numbers were run and the players appeared eager for a deal. There was some discussion and it almost looked like the deal would fall through. However, in a rare turn of events, all 10 poker players came to an agreement and the tournament was over before a single final table hand was dealt. Steve Shkolnik was the chip leader with 4,000 more chips than runner-up Kirk Conrad. Steve was declared the winner and the prize money was distributed.
