Tournament Report
Euloguio Urtado Plays and Wins in His First Tournament
Event #19 of the Deepstack Mini Series was the first $200 Deep Stack No Limit tournament. 199 players generated a prize pool of $38,606 with the top payout of $14,576 for 1st place. The final table was set at 4:30am with an ante of 2000 and blinds of 6000/12000. The average chip count is approximately 170,000.
On the very first hand Eric C. pushed all-in and covered Joseph Assaad. Eric showed pocket 8s and Joseph held A-Q. It was a race to the river when the board fell K-6-5-K-3. Eric’s pair held up and Joseph Assaad finished in 10th place collecting $675.
Hand #4 had Liranza Rodolfo all-in against TZ Oishi. Liranza had K-Q and was trailing TZ’s A-J. The flop was 7-5-3 extending TZ’s lead. The turn Queen reversed the lead to Liranza and the river Jack paired TZ but not enough to earn the pot. TZ Oishi was eliminated in 9th place and earned $770.
Hand #12 had David Wortham raising preflop and big blind Tuong Tran re-raising all-in (not much more than David’s raise). David made a quick call and showed Kc-10c. Tuong showed a dominated 10s-4s although his spades were live. The flop was J-8-3 that helped no one. The turn Ace and river 9 gave David the King-high win. Tuong Tran was eliminated in 8th place for $870.
Hand #20 had the blinds raise to 3000 10000/20000. Ron West pushed from early position and was against the button, Eric Chhor. Ron had the lead with A-10 against Eric’s Q-9. The board came 5-4-2-7-K and Ron’s Ace-high held up. Eric Chhor finished in 7th place and earned $965.
Hand #29 had Julian Chung all-in with A-K against Euloguio Urtado’s dominated K-10. The flop was Q-5-2 and Julian lead increased. The turn Jack increased Julian’s lead but gave Euloguio the open-ended straight draw. The Ace on the river gave Euloguio the pot after trailing the entire hand. Julian Chung finished in 6th place and took home $1,350.
As the blinds were increased to 5000 15000/30000, David Wortham raised all-in preflop with K-9 and was called by Euloguio’s pocket 8s. The board fell Q-7-2-10-2 and David Wortham finished in 5th place for $1,735. The players looked at a chip count at the end of this hand but it was not accepted and play continued.
Hand #38 had Ron West was short stacked due to a bad beat four hands earlier. Ron’s Jacks got cracked against pocket 5s when the board 4-flushed. Ron showed pocket 9s against Julian Chung’s two overcards (K-Q). The board was K-8-7-8-J and Ron West lost the race and finished in 4th place for $2,315.
