Tournament Report

Murilo Figueredo wins LAPT Chile

LAPT Sao Paulo felt like a steal when Chilean Alex Manzano defeated a field of 536 players with more than half the field being Brazilians. We could say that the counts are settled, as Murilo Figueredo, form Brazil, has won LAPT Chile claiming back the history and becoming the first Brazilian to win a LAPT Title.

The US $ 1.100 buy in ME attracted 621 player, making it the biggest Poker Tournament in the history of Chile. In total, with all side events, more than 1.000 entries were registered over the last 4 days.
20 countries were represented, although Chile was clearly the country with the biggest presence and all local hopes were on the 3 Chilean players that made the final table. Amongst them, was the only Lady still alive, Daniela Horno, who had a shot of becoming the first woman to win a LAPT title.

At 12:00 pm sharp, 18 players resumed play with a rather quick pace of early eliminations. The Final table was reached within 4 levels of play in the day and it was not long after the dinner break that the heads up was finished when Murilo’s A,J top pair and flush draw completed on the river against runner up Fernando Martinez’s two pair.

Besides the ME, the Us $ 4.000 highroller event took place today, having 49 players battle it off. Carlos Munera from Colombia ended up as the winner, beating a very strong field, with well known Latin American Pros such as Leandro Csome, Matias Rizzi, Nico Fierro, Alex Manzano and Team PokerStars Pros, Nacho Barbero, Leo Fernandez, Humberto Brenes, Andre Akkari, Freddy Torres and Karlo Lopez.

All eyes are now put in Lima, where LAPT is heading next month, from the 12th to the 17th. After rush start of the tour, the inevitable question is asked: Will another record be broken? We will have to wait and see.

Lapt Chile National Poker Championship set to break attendance records

The Lapt has returned to Chile and what an incredible day it has been. Day 1 A has seen a field of 351 players taking the felt, which already makes it the biggest poker tournament in Chile with Day 1 B still to come. It looks like the 536 field of Lapt Sao Paulo is going to be beaten tomorrow and Chile will set a new record for Lapt.

Many regular players have showed up for day 1, such as Alex Manzano, Chilean leader of Lapt Player of the year race and winner of Lapt Sao Paulo. Along with him, Chilean fellow Amos Ben has also played today and is near the chip lead, looking for another deep run that will top his 10th place finish in Sao Paulo.

Team PokerStars Pros, Nacho Barbero, Humberto Brenes, Gualter Salles and Alex Gomes also played, yet they all hit the rail in the latter part of the day.

The chip leader after day 1 A is chilean player Heriberto Carvajal with a stack of 153.4.

Notables are lined for tomorrow, such as William Ross, who made the Final Table of Lapt Grand Final last year in Rosario and Jesus Bertoli from Venezuela, regular online qualifier for Lapt. Along with them, Team PokerStars pros will be here tomorrow. Maridu, Andre Akkari and Leo Fernandez will all be aiming at their first Lapt title.

20 different nationalities have been represented today, making Lapt Chile, a truly international poker festival. The NLHE Turbo side event attracted 151 players and kept the room filled with lots of energy during most of the day.

That’s it from Chile, stay tuned for more updates after day 1 B.
