Tournament Report
Tournament Recap: Seven-Card Stud

Eddie Reyes
|
Seven studs and one filly ran a crowd-pleasing sprint at the final table of the fourth event of the Battle-of-the-Bay poker tournament at Lucky Chances. The mood was staid, somber and tense. No finalists showed disgust. No deals were discussed. The race was on.
Erick Lindgren cast a vote in favor of less top-heavy prizes after trotting into fifth place. "It's best for everyone." Erick is young, gracious, and tough, with a bright future in poker.
Alan Leibowitz was upbeat during and after his fourth-place finish. "No regrets. I had my best game going." Alan has enjoyed stud for years. "Hold 'em has tremendously helped my stud game. I wish they'd spread mid-limit stud in the Bay Area."

Susana Savage
|
Delightful Susana Savage took third-place, poised and confident throughout. Asked about her impressive table image, Susana confided that she gains strength and inspiration from the movie "Rounders." She quoted her favorite lines and added, "I love Matt Damon's character, that emotionless style of playing."
Susana married Lucky Chances tournament director Matt Savage last October. It was Matt's idea that Susana watch "Rounders" before tournaments, like Popeye eating his spinach. And it works! She's had several recent top finishes. Matt confessed, "Susana is much better than me at poker." Susana lovingly added, "As usual, he's right." How's that for newlywed harmony?
Eddie Reyes is a consisten, successful performer in tournaments and mid-limit ring games. He took second place by patiently outlasting the field during a dry run of cards. Then, on the very first hand of heads-up play, Eddie finally picked up a premium starter. He made aces-up and was all-in on fifth street. The hands were turned over...
"I need a ten," said Andy Ali on sixth street. Bam! It came on the river, completing Andy's ace-high straight, earning him his first trophy -- in his second tournament ever! Congrats, Andy.
Andy started the final table with 3/4 of the total chips and led almost wire to wire. He played to win, raising every high card and attacking short stacks. Andy's endearing smile flashed while raving about Lucky Chances. "I love the people. Players, dealers, management. Awesome."
