Tournament Report

The Cosmos Christmas Tournaments run over the weekend 21st Dec to 24th Dec at Cosmos Casino in Moscow have just concluded.Despite the fact that this is holiday time in Russia & many regular tournament players from both Moscow & St Petersberg were on holidays, the events still managed to attract a good turnout & prizemoney was substantial.

The Armenian contingent was in red-hot form with 1 win & 2 seconds & several final table placings. All the Armenian players play a good, solid & aggressive brand of poker, & some have indicated that they will start competing in Europe.

Kiril Gerasimov with a win , 5th & 6th was the most consistent performer over the weekend. Kiril is a young player who has been playing poker less than a year, but has already shown that he is that rare breed of player who excels both at money & tournament play. As usual Alex Kravchenko performed well, & will be playing a lot on the European circuit in 2002.

Prizemoney for the 3 events totalled $70,250 with a total of 90 entries. All the events ran smoothly, & Dmitry Lesnoy is to be commended for having his team in top shape ,organizationally.

He must also be congratulated for a superhuman effort in playing non-stop from Friday afternoon till Sunday night, both in tournaments & live games, whilst at the same time ensuring that the events ran without a hitch. Get some sleep Dmitry, you deserve it.
