Tournament Report

Chad Brown of Los Angeles worked his way through a field of 93 entries to emerge as the Seven Card Hi-Lo Split champion in Event #4 of the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Once the final table had been trimmed to four players, Brown overcame strong play from three Las Vegans to take first prize money of $36,084. Runner-up Hossein Shahrezay entered the final table as the chip leader, but when it go down to the final four, it was eventual fourth place finisher Ron McMillan who had the chip lead. David Rabbi finished third. McMillan, who owns several McDonald's franchises, lost his momentum to Brown when Brown won three straight "scoops" against McMillan.

Amir Vahedi of Sherman Oaks, CA, finished fifth while 1998 WSOP champion Scott Nguyen got sixth, followed by Shin Oshima of Tokyo, Japan, in seventh and Paulette McCulley of Laguna Hills, CA, getting the last paid spot at eighth.

Total prize money was $90,210 for the $1,000 buy-in event.
