Tournament Report

EFOP EUROPEAN OMAHA CHAMPIONSHIP

In an amazing super-satellite held on Friday night for the European Omaha Championship, 14 tickets were given away for the competition! Buy-in € 3 000 with unlimited rebuys for 2 hours, this was the biggest Omaha tournament ever in Europe! An impressive number of 77 entries plus 30 rebuys created a prize pool of € 306 100! The tournament stopped Saturday night when it was down to 6 players and the final was held on Sunday at 5pm.

Final Table:

Seat 1 Andrew BLOCH (USA) – 320 000 Chips
Seat 2 Xavier DETOURNEL (FRA) – 82 000 Chips
Seat 3 Philippe MARMORSTEIN (GER)- 223 000 Chips
Seat 4 Eric SEIDEL (USA) – 129 000 Chips
Seat 5 Teddy TUIL (ISR) – 127 000 Chips
Seat 6 Rob HOLLINK (HOL) – 189 000 Chips

The final lasted for approximately 3 hours, during which Mister world-class player Erik SEIDEL unanimously subjugated this table, although we were under the impression he had kept a low profile during the whole tournament. However, when Rob HOLLINK and him found themselves heads up, Mister HOLLINK literally popped out and became much more aggressive. There were very interesting and strong plays to watch during this Omaha heads up final. Mister HOLLINK, already title-holder of the European OMAHA Championship EFOP 2001, managed to win the event and will add this second EFOP European OMAHA Championship title plus a first prize of € 122 440 to his list of triumphs. This was the first time in the history of the Euro Finals that one of the main events is won twice by the same player. Congratulations to all the finalists and to Rob HOLLINK, and on behalf of all the ACF staff, we thank him strongly for his generosity!

Final results were as follow:

1st : Rob HOLLINK (HOL) € 122 440
2nd: Erik SEIDEL (USA) € 61 220
3rd: Andrew BLOCH (USA) € 45 920
4th: Teddy TUIL (ISR) € 27 540
5th: Philippe MARMORSTEIN (GER) € 18 660
6th: Xavier DETOURNEL (FRA) € 12 240
7th: Paul MERCIER (FRA) € 9 180
8th David Devil Fish ULLIOTT (UK) € 6 120
9th: Patrick ZEKRI (FRA) € 3 080

WORLD POKER TOUR

Sunday night poker.. Another super-satellite at €200 buy-in for the WPT event to be held from February 12th to 15th. Again, more than 70 players and 100 rebuys generated four tickets for the WPT tournament to come, making the list of super-satellite winners up to 24. Last super-satellite at night to come will be next Tuesday at 8pm, this time at €500 buy-in, with unlimited rebuys for 2H plus one Add-on, it promises to give away many more seats!

PLANET PEOPLE

The Aviation Club and its team are happy to welcome once more in Paris Mister WSOP 2001 winner Carlos MORTENSEN and his wife Cecilia, who made quite an impression lately in Tunica, being the only female to win a World Poker Open title in the last two years! Mister MORTENSEN is making the trip from Los Angeles to play in the World Poker Tour event and take a shot at the half million euros first prize before to return!

CASH GAME CORNER

High limit and pot limit games are now located in the private salon in order to liberate more tables in the main poker room. Cash action is vibrant at the ACF as the poker room is among the most lively I have seen on this side of the Atlantic!
