| Barry Shulman Captures
the $1,000 Limit Event
At 10:53 p.m. last night Chip Jett and his wife Katrina became the proud parents of a 6lb 13 oz baby girl named Athena Grace. Both mother and baby are doing fine and Chip would like to thank everyone for their kindness.
As for my comment in yesterdays results, I suggested Chip open a savings account for the new baby with the $1,000 refund he received, he responded with, “I look at it like she owes me $50,000.
Congratulations, Chip and Katrina!
Now for the results of the $1,000 Limit Hold’em Event.
The final table began at 11:10 p.m. with 50 minutes remaining on the clock. The limit was $600-$1,200 with $300-$600 blinds.
Of the remaining 10, nine would make the money and the 10th place finisher will be eligible for the Bubble Tournament at noon on Sunday, October 5.
At the start of the final table Barry Shulman held a commanding lead with $42,400, Warren Karp was holding down second place with $19,900, Greg Wynn was in third with $19,000 and the rest of the field combined had only $45,000.
At 11:40 Gary Cordeiro was the first player to exit the final table. Gary went up against chip leader Barry Shulman with J-Q only to run into pocket eights. The board was no help to Gary and he had to settle for a 10th place finish but at least he gets to play in the Bubble event on Sunday.
Paul Sherr was the next casualty at 11:55 p.m. Paul Chakbazof raised, Paul Sherr reraised, Paul C. reraised and Paul S. called. The flop came Q-8-6, Paul C. started the betting and it was capped. The turn card came a 10 and Paul S. got all his money in with pocket eights only to find out Paul flopped a set of queens. The old set over set sent Paul S. home in ninth place.
At 12:05 the limit increased to $800-$1,600 with $400-$800 blinds.
At 12:10 Paul Dahl was eliminated by David Kutcher. Paul D. had A-K and David had pocket 10s. The money.
At 12:15 Doug Saab got all his money in with A-7 against Warren Karp’s A-9. The flop was kind to Doug when it came a seven but as luck would have it Warren rivered a nine for the win. Doug had to settle for seventh place.
The last of the three Pauls who made the final table took a powder at 12:30 a.m. Warren raised, Paul C. reraised, Warren raised again and Paul C. called all-in. Paul showed A-K and Warren turned over pocket eights. The board came 2-J-J-3-3 and Paul C. was sent home in sixth place.
At 1:15 the limit increased to $1,000-$2,000 with $500-$1,000 blinds.
After a short break the remaining five players agreed on a deal that made everyone happy.
