Tournament Report

Constantin Harach
Constantin Harach from New Zealand - the smile of a champion!
Today's Pot Limit Omaha tournament has an increased buy in of $500 with one $200 rebuy allowed. Tournament commenced at 4:35pm. There are three forty minute levels during the rebuy period (blinds 10/20, 15/30 & 25/50) and only one rebuy allowed so I would expect we would lose a few players prior to the end of this period. Currently 35 players with one seat available - around 9 players have already had their rebuy.

Start bank is $1,000 in tournament chips and a $200 rebuy gives players a further $1,000 in chips.

Just over half way through the rebuy period - two players have been eliminated and there has been 15 rebuys.

Presently in the third level of the rebuy period, with 15 rebuys to date. A full starting list will be provided at the end of the rebuy period (approximately 6:45pm) together with players who have been eliminated.

Tito Pozzo 4K
Peter Selby 3.5K

Shortly after the break we have lost 3 players and are down to 27 players.

Jac Arami has just been knocked out of the tournament. Even the coverage by the English Channel 4 was not enough to spur him on to surviving a second all in within minutes of the first.

Garry Bush, runaway overall points leader with two firsts and a second to date for this championship, has been knocked out early in this tournament. Garry was short stacked for most of the tournament and never really in the hunt.

20 players now remaining, we will be very shortly going to two tables.

Chip leader Steve Hegyi has fallen back to the field and our new runaway chip leader is the well credentialled Constantin Harach from New Zealand (pictured)

Constantin is holding 11.5K.

Constantin Harach puts two players all in and wins a large pot with a straight to the King knocking out John Dalessandri in 19th spot and Gherardo Crespi in 18th. His has now increased his chip stack to 13000 (there is 68,000 in chips on the tables).

Another pot to our chip leader Constantin and he is now holding 25% of all chips with 16 players remaining.

Tournament Table 2 - A pre flop raise to 1575 by Christoff Haller is called by Alexey Phopov, yesterday's winner. The flop comes 64h8h and Chritoff goes all in for 2500. Alex folds giving Christoff a 3.5K pot.

Constantin Harach is again prominent when Arseny raises pre flop and Constantin is the sole caller. The flop shows 22s3s and Arseny goes all in on the flop for 2500 and again Constantin calls. Arsent rolls A7A4 and Constantin JsKsK3. The turn delivers a Qs for Constantin's flush and the river a 4 knocking Arseny out and Constantin moving to 21K.

We are now down to 11 players following the departure of Arseny.

Just prior to the break we lost the Russian Maxim Shmatko in 10th place and we go to the final table with the following players:

3 Frenchman, 2 New Zealanders, 2 Russians, 1 Armenian & 1 Italian make up the table.

With a couple minutes to go at the 150/300 blind level,Alex raises to 1000 pre flop. Aram calls and the flop is 2,9,10. Alex bets 2400, Aram calls. A second deuce on the turn

Alex again bets, this time 1600 and Aram folds giving Alex a nice 7000 pot.

Players are soon to return from a ten minute break with the blinds increasing to 300/500. This will hurt the numerous short stacks on the table.

The chip leaders as we return from the break are:
Constantin Harach 24000
Robert Cohen 11500
Alexander Kravchenko 10000

With the blinds at 300/500, 3 players see the flop with no raise. The flop is 24J, all players check. The turn is a 9 and Constantin bets 1500, Alex raises to 4500 and Constantin calls. The river is a J and Constantin bets 6000, Alex calls and finds Constantin bluffing. Alex turns over J968 for a full house and takes a 20K to become the new chip leader.

Short stacked Aram makes a full on the river against new chip leader Alexander(picture) to survive his all in.

Our chip leader puts John Wiley all in for 1000 on the flop (K84). Alexander rolls JQA2 and John 2K5A giving John the edge. However aa 10 on the turn and 9 on the river makes straight for alex and the experienced Kiwi tournament player John Wiley has to settle for 9th.

The Russian Aram Piruzian raises pre flop and Constantin calls. The flop is J74. Aram goes all in for 1900 and Constantin calls.
ARAM AA7Q
CONSTANTIN 2KKJ
The turn is a 10 and the river a 4 and Aram wins a 9K pot with Aces Up.

Aram is now holding around 10K

Chip leader is now Alexander Kravchenko with 28K.

Blinds have just increased to 500/1000.

Robert Cohen is next with 10K.

Constantin, after some serious dumping of chips, turns the tables with a 7K pot against Donat Bernard from France. A third spade on the board was delivered on the river to give Constantin a flush against Donat's 2 pair.

Shortly after Ben Hanana from france is all in for 3K and Constantin calls. Constantin rolls AA82 against Ben's KQ108. The board is Q3103 and Constantin wins with 2 pair Aces up. We say farewell to Ben in 8th place, one of three Frenchman to make the final table.

The Armenian Norek goes all in before the flop for 2500. Aram is the caller and he rolls KKA10 to Norek's 8899. The flop is 2Q3, the turn a Q and the river a 3 and Norek finishes a creditable 7th place.

Constantin and Donat are both all in for 10K pre flop. Con rolls AA29 and Donat KK68.

The flop is A82 giving Constantin trip Aces, the turn and river help neither player and we see Constantin move well back into contention and Donat the Frenchman take 6th place.

Players have just returned from a break with the blinds at 1000/2000.

Aram raises pre flop by 3000 and Constantin calls. The flop is 8,3,10 and Aram goes all in for 1500. Con calls and Aram rolls 99A2 and Constantin QJ6A. The turn is an 8 and the river a six and Aram'a 2 pair 9's over 8's are good enough to keep him alive with a sizeable 11K pot.

Aram raises 5000 pre flop and Maurizio is all in for 5500. Aram makes a higher straight and we say good bye to Maurizio in 5th place.

Robert Cohen raises UTG to 6.0 and Constantin calls. The flop is 1010K, Constantin checks, Robert Cohen attempts to put Constantin all in for his last 3.0, which Constantin obliges and then turns over pocket 10's for quads and a certain win. This 20K pot takes Constantin to equal chip leader with Alexander and Aram and after looking shaky for some time, Constantin (pictured) is back in the hunt.

Robert raises to 7K preflop and Alex calls. The flop is 28J and Alex bets 5K and Robert goes all in. Alex shows A,4,9,10 and Robert A,3,5,Q. The turn being a 10 helps Alex and the 8 on a river makes no change with Alex's 10's over 8's knocking out Robert (pictured right of his compatriot Ben Hanana).

A couple of hands later, Constantin goes all in for 12K on the flop and Alexander Kravchenko calls. With the flop being A,8,10 Constantin has made trips holding 88Q9. Alex has A553 and needs an Ace.
The Ace comes on the turn to put Alex ahead, but alas for the Russian, the river produces an 8 and quads once again for Constantin.

With the pre flop betting, Constantin now holds well over 30K.

The short stacked Alex goes all in next hand and is eliminated in 3rd place by Constantin's 2 pair A's over 4's.

With Constantin holding well over 50K of the 68K on the table, and the flop showing 9,10,4, The Russian Aram bets 8K which is called by Constantin. The turn is a Jack and Aram bets his last 7K which is called by Constantin.

Aram rolls over 8K510 and Constantin 6QJA. Constantin's up and down straight is made with a K on the last and the very popular New Zealand player adds a Russian title to his name.

PokerNetwork congratulates Constantin on his popular win and applauds the great showing of the Russian's, placing 2nd and 3rd following their win in the 5 Card Stud.
