| SIX IN THE HUNT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
And then there were six! Four days ago, 674 players sat down to
compete for a prize pool of $6,765,000; after two days, there were 187 remaining.
Yesterday saw the field reduced to 27. Now, after today’s play, Bradley
Berman, Temp Hutter, David Pham, Humberto Brenes, J C Tran and Tuan Le
are left in the race for the $1,549,588 first place prize which includes a $25,000
seat in the WPT Championship event in Las Vegas. The total prize pool for the final table is $4,261,090. The top 16 players receive
points toward the Best Overall Player Award.
Chris McCormack, who won his seat by way of an Act 1, twice played 9’s; the first was against J’s and
the second versus Le’s 10’s which left him just short of the final table in 7th. John Fanning was all-in with AJ
and, even though there was a J on the flop, he could not beat Berman’s K’s. Anne Duke, with a short stack,
went all-in with 8’s; Le, the chip leader at that point, called with A10 and was the winner when a 10 was
flopped. Bo Toft, the 10th place finisher, was confident with J’s until Pham immediately called and showed
A’s. The KK53A board only helped Pham. Places 11 through 27 are on the reverse page along with the winners
from yesterday’s action.
When play resumes tomorrow at 4 PM in the Grand Pequot Ballroom, the blinds will will be at
15,000/30,000 with a 3,000 ante. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!
